Delrin AF
Delrin AF is a combination of 10% to 25% oriented TFE fluorocarbon fibers
which are uniformly dispersed in Delrin acetal resin. This thermoplastic combination produces
a product that possesses the strength, toughness, dimensional stability and fabrication economy
approaching that of Delrin with the added properties of Teflon, the world's most slippery solid material.
Delrin AF, with its excellent sliding and friction properties, is especially suited for use
with moving parts where low friction and long wear are important. Bearings made of Delrin AF sustain
high loads when operating at fast speeds and show little wear. These nonlubricated bearings are also essentially
free of slip-stick behavior because the static and dynamic coefficients of friction are equal.
Although the initial cost may be greater, in design considerations, the cost savings with the elimination
of frequent maintenance and costly lubricants makes Delrin AF cost effective.
